Frequently Asked Questions

Q: "Do I need a wireless card in my computer to use this antenna?"

A: No, this is a complete solution. This unit is a high gain antenna and a wireless card combo. So all your need is a spare USB port on the computer.

Q: " My laptop has a built-in WIFI adapter, will this antenna boost it?"

A: No, It will not boost the built in card. But uses it's own booster to increase signal strength. When you unplug the USB it goes dormant. Allowing you to use the built in wifi. Plug it back in when you have a low or no signal for better strength

Q: "I have multiple computers in my house, can I use this antenna for all of them?"

A: No. You can connect this antenna to the computer USB port only. It is designed for one computer. However you can use one for each computer
Q: "Can I connect this antenna to the router?
A: No, It is designed for computer use only.
Q: "Which active USB cable should I choose, USB 1.1 or USB 2.0?"
A: Use 2.0 if availible. 1.1 can be used also.
Q: "Can I install this antenna for my desktop computer?"
A: Yes, it's for any computer, as long as it has a spare USB port.
Q: I have a new CISCO Router, E1000-N which has a limited range. will
this expand the range by 20%+
A: Yes, when connected to the computer recieving the signal, it will boost the signal more than 20%
Q: Can this be used in any place? I intend to send this to my brother who
is living in Asia. He lives far from his wi-fi source, and is using a laptop.
His power source is 220
.
A: Yes, as long as it is a wifi signal and his laptop has a standard USB port
Q: my problem is my router is downstairs on the desktop and whenever my
cordless phone is in use downstairs, my wifi signal drops completely...once the
call has ended, the signal returns...any solutions?
A: Your phone may have a channel select on it, otherwise you may have to buy a phone with a different frequency than 2.4 GHZ.  A DECT 6.0 Will work.

Q: I would like to purchase 2 antenna relocation kits and connect them
end to end . what part will I need to do this for your device do you carry it
and how much is it. Motivated to buy.
A: Just purchase 2 of them and they will connect together.

Q: Do you ship usps, fedex or ups?
A: We ship USPS.

Q: Is this going to work with my linksys wtr 120N router?
A: Yes,it will work with virtualy any B,G,or N signal routers.
Q: It loaded up,but no increase in signal when I plug in the antenna. What
am I doing wrong?
A: You will need to go to Network connections and make sure the Realtek connection is enabled. There is a 5 bar icon that shows on the bottom of the screen.
If you have green bars showing it is working correctly.

Q: I need to get wifi signal from one office building to another. How far will these booster antennas reach out? The distant i need to reach is a 175 yds, 525 feet will this work for me?
A:This should work for you. I would get the antenna relocation kit also so you can put the antenna in the best location for reception. Range is usually 1000 ft under the worst conditions to over a mile in the best.

Q: I am wanting to access the cable DSL about 900 ft from my house.
Could you tell me what I need for both locations with your unit?
A: You will need a router on the cable end and the x10 booster on the other end. I would get the antenna relocation kit so you can out the antenna in the best location for reception.

Q: Will this work inside a steel building?  My secondary computer is in a
steel building about 80 feet away from my Actiontec router which is also in a
steel building. Both spaces are connected by a small break room. Right now I
have a weak or very low signal strength.
A: Yes, this should work for you. I would get the antenna relocation kit so you can put the  antenna in the best location for reception.
